That's a little late...but we've spoken on the phone with Australian customers before though so we can make it work. Feel free to contact us.

Do you know if there is any other way to communicate with a Fadal 4020 while using the RS232 port or if it is possible to add another port? Trying to get a little fancy with some probing routines. Wanting to get the coordinates out through some V variables or w/e works best

    - I sent you a PM but i couldnt verify that it was sent so i figured it would be a good idea to ask on this thread anyway.

I am looking for someone who can answer questions related to programming utilizing macros and subprograms. Would you be my man and if not could you point to someone who can. I actually came to the Chatsworth plant for my Operator Training and worked with Able Santana. Any chance you would know how to reach him?

    Thanks

Fadal put out a supplement on macros, which I have a copy of. It's not scanned yet, so hopefully someone here has an "e"-copy they could email you, or maybe post here. It has examples and is very helpful.
Both Neil and Able were always very helpful to me in the past.

.... Btw, in the Fadal User Manual Section 18 you'll find a dedicated treatise on macros...PM me if you can't find a copy.

Give Douglas Salguero a call at 818-727-2100. He has been the senior applications engineer for Fadal for 20+ years and would love to help.

    Default sealant and way covers

Just looking for ideas on a good sealant that you've come across for the enclosures. the white stuff from Fadal is junk. I'm using a sealant from loctite now and its pretty good but is there something else you've seen the works good. I use a semi synthetic coolant.
Also have you seen any way covers that are better than stock Fadal? Mine are always falling off, springs stretch out, all due to rust.

Blue or Black Loctite RTV is all we use for industrial sealant.
BLack is best (and costs it as well).
You will have no trouble with Blue.

I rebuilt a 4020 about 3 years ago. I was advised to use Sika 1-A . Polyurethane sealant. Zero issues to date. Great stuff. IMO,silicones are not a good choice. The blue stuff is especially prone to coolant swelling. There is only one that has proven to be oil proof IMO and that is the gray silicone made or sold by loctite and permatex. Use the Sika 1A and you will not have to redo it again.

We have had no issues with Blue in any industrial application (including coolant).

    Here are blurbs
Loctite Blue RTV Silicone Gasket Maker is a flexible, water and pressure resistant adhesive and sealant for home equipment and small engine repairs. It cures on exposure to moisture in the air to form a tough, flexible, silicone rubber gasket. It resists aging, weathering and thermal cycling without hardening, shrinking or cracking. Loctite Blue RTV Silicone will not foul oxygen sensors and is resistant to most auto and shop fluids.
Loctite ® RTV Black Silicone general-purpose, black indoor/outdoor sealant. Seals, bonds, repairs, mends and secures glass, metal, plastics, fabric, vinyl, weatherstripping, and vinyl tops. Protects and repairs electrical wiring. May be applied to horizontal or vertical surfaces. Waterproof and flexible. Temperature range -80 °F to 450 °F, resists oil, water, weather, vibration, grease.

have you ever encountered a problem like this one before? we can't find any fadal specialists in our area (mexico just south of texas) and the machine is just inoperative 2 years and counting, we've had 4 diferent "technitians" come check it out but they couldn't fix it and just won't return our calls aymore.

The machine is a fadal 4020 cnc88 and it has that weird problem in the video, i've tried replacing all cards except the cpu from the card cage, i tested them on a fadal 3016 and they worked normally on that machine as well as the amps for it and the parts from the 3016 in the 4020 show the same results, also i swapped the power supply but it's the same. it has glass scales on "x and y" axis and unplugging them made no diference, also one motor was sent for repairs and another one was swapped from the 3016 to this machine for testing but no luck, could you suggest what to look for next? could a wire harness cause this issue?

    thanks in advance!

It always good to get a second opinion on issues with Fadal machines, but keep in mind that FadalCNC.com has provided free tech support free since 2003. We still work on machines all over the world and have the capability for laser calibration and ballbar analysis if you need calibration. We don't just sell parts, we provide full service support. Phone, Live Chat and email. You are always welcome to get the parts and help you need to get back up and running.

I have problem with a Fadal 2013 TRM CNC. We have been using fadal and its components for almost 20 years and We’re very satisfied with your products but
We’ve some problems in our cnc machine TRM 2013 in recent days.
The machine gives an #10 motor overload error after 3 seconds of operation even though there is no hall sensor and encoder in our machine
Can you help with this problem ?
