Problem- fadal vmc rigid tap

I purchased a Fadal VMC 15xt, year 1995 unit serial #9508506 and was told that it had rigid tap, and found that it was turned off in the controller when I finally got around to hooking up and running the machine. Is there a way to check if my machine has all the right parts and just the parameter is turned off? I looked at the spindle card and the number is 1010-5. Thanks

I had my '97 4020 for 11 years before I found out I didn't have rigid tapping on it (long story). I found out by trying to run a program. The controller just went into an infinite pause.

There is something to do with with the spindle drive that can tell you if it can rigid tap. Post the model # and someone can prolly tell you right off whether it is capable of it. It's not the same as the card # you posted.

It is still possible to have the right spindle but not "the rest" to make rigid tap work but that's a good place to start. Sorry, typing from mobile phone here. There is a thread here somewhere about this topic. Try searching this sub-forum for rigid tap.
