Whats up with needing a M45 in the same line as a G83 or any other canned cycle etc....In the manual they made it seem that it was more for an indexer move etc.? I'm using #2 format (is that the reason or is it with an older Fadal....a parameter?) If I do not use the M45 it will not run the canned cycle? only works with the M45 Example: T1 M6 (.500 DRILL ) G0 G90 G40 G54 X9. Y0 S2200 M3 G43 Z.1 H1 M8 G98 G83 Z-1.5 Q.2 R.1 F20. M45 X10. X11. G0 G80 Z.1 M9 G49 Z0 M1 thanks for any help |

The machine won't execute a fixed drill cycle unless it has either a X and/or a Y word. The M45 forces the machine to execute without either. I always found the M45 to be handy at the beginning of a program- ~ G0G90X1.Y1.E1Z2.H1 G83Z-.5R0.1F10.M45 X2. Y2. ~ It also works well when hole locations are described in a subprogram. Hope this helps! Techman

Thanks for the reply Techman..... So if I had the X Y location on the drill cycle line Example: G98 G83 Z-1.5 Q.2 R.1 F20. X1. Y1. (Then I wouldn't need the M45 ? ) is this what your telling me....by the way this is a 1992 machine. thanks guy's TMILLS

Tmills-- If you have an X or Y on the drill line then you will not need to M45. Another solution is to set the parameter IMM. FIXED CYCLE to a yes and the drill or tap cycle will execute upon stating the cycle. Neal

Thanks for the info guy's!!! Thanks Neal. I will change parameters......that seems like the way to go. I like to simplify the programs as much as possible. And to always add the M45 when I've never done before will just be an extra thing to remember. 1 problem is, the 1992 VMC 40 machine I got came with the key lock on and of course no key. So whenever I go to SETP command It will not let me change the parameters......any thoughts on a quick way to get around that? other than have a locksmith come make a key? would this be a common key from Fadal thanks again guy's TMILLS
