We had a weird thing happen on our Fadal 3060- we were running a program that we have run often and mid-way throught the program the tool lifted up as if the program was done. It turns out that somehow half the program had been erased??? This did happen after a technician had replaced the amp 029 or 040 card / board but I cannot see how that is related? They told me that erasing the memory can fix a lot of problems but what kind of answer is that?? I am curious as to what may of happened? Is it helpful to erase or clear the memory from time to time? if so- how often-? Thanks!!

Not sure what exactly happened to your program, but I would recommend sending back your programs, I used to do this very often, depending on how many different parts, and how long your programs are, at least if you have your most recent prgram sent back, you will have a back up in case you lose a program again. Would you rather take a minute or 2 and save the program, or rewrite the whole program.

yes we do have all programs backed up and on the HD of the computer we use to program the jobs as well as on disc. |

For what it's worth, I have had numerous problems with program corruption on my 08 remanufactured machine with the 8MB flash style memory board. It was recommended by my Fadal tech to reinitialize the memory on occasion. He didn't say how often but I do it once a month and have had relatively few problems in that area now.

Oh yes, I should clarify that means the program memory, tool table, and fixture offsets. NOT the backlash and parameter settings! Sorry, I should have been more careful when posting. In the "Spacebar" menu it's something like 2 - Memory, 5 - Clear, 2 - Offsets or all memory and "Y" to all the prompts. I have rarely had an issue since. Also, it was recommended that if I'm not using all 8MB of memory I should go to the SETP and reduce it to 4MB or 2MB. The processor works much faster that way.
