I have a 2003 TRM with the MP-32 controller and on my computer i am using BOB-CAD/CAM. so far i have generated my program with my PC and have connected a 9 to 25 pin adapter to my pc and then a 100ft 25 pin serial cable to the fadal. At this point i make sure the settings are similar on the machine and the PC and i set the baud rate to an equal number ( i think i tried 9600 and 2400). I cannot get the comp to communicate with the Machine at all. I bought the machine at auction and the owner had the rs232 port hooked up and they also used bob-cad/cam. i am not sure what i missed. can anyone give me a better idea than this setup or maybe what i might be missing. i would rather not invest a bunch more cash into this so i am somewhat pot committed to the serial cable. Is it possible my 100ft cable is too long. Thanks in advance. |

| First, the obvious is make sure the cable is soldered to the correct pins on each end. There are two configurations and the major difference is the transmit and receive pins (#2 & #3) cross over in one configuration and not in the other. Also, the DB9 - DB25 adapter may be performing the #2 & #3 pin crossover, so if your cable is correct the adapter is reversing the the transmit & receive and the pc cannot communicate with the machine. It doesn't matter to the Fadal what port your pc uses, you need to configure the port assignment in the communication software on the pc. Last edited by cadman; 10-18-2009 at 07:03 PM.
