How does this ![]() turn into this? ![]() Bobcad V23 2-axis pocketing. Offset pocket in (os pocket out does the same). ~1996 Fadal 4020 88h Format 1 What it looks like is that Bobcad generates and arc that is miniscule (.0001-.0003 or so) and the Fadal reads it as a full arc. Machine parameters-tolerances-machining - .0001". Spline facet - .0010" Do I need to change some settings? And why does all of my CAM work not save when I close the drawing? |

| I don't have an answer for the Bobcad circles. You might want to try the free version of NcPlot, before cutting? Might save a headache & material.

| Are they R arcs or IJ arcs?

| If the bad arcs weren't buried in 33,000 lines of code I would isolate them. I know they are all arcs shorter than .001. I found a few small arcs when I posted a single problem letter. Only a small fraction of those small arcs actually gave me trouble. In the huge file it is insane to find one bad line...or three. |

Please elaborate. Did you just use a post processor for a different machine and edit to work with the Fadal? |

yes i processed it to a different machine and just ended up having to edit the first 10-12 lines of code.

Another thing I will do is just run a Sharpie in the tool holder since NC Plot doesn't catch everything. It still takes time, but at least it won't waste material. |

| Its a post problem, will happen in every machine if the posts arent configured correctly. Like chad I have had the problem in smartcam as well years ago, once I rewrote the post Correctly I never had a problem again. If I remember correctly it has to do with the machine settings in the post under the minimum degrees of a arc , if your using cutter comp its very very touchy in how you set up the posts Fadalerror thats funnnier than crap I always used a sewing thread needle in a drill chuck when doing stuff like that, My wife years ago told me to use a sharpie as you can adjust the line thickness by the z offset. then I just ended up going to the cadstore and bought some plotter pens modified a tool to fit in a holder and used them as you can get really fine ones. |
