Just picked up a '87 VMC 40. With the help of Neal (thanks again!), got it running and everthing works great. The only issue that I have is that someone robbed the chiller pump off of it before I got it. What I have is an enclosure under the right side (standing in front of the machine) near the rear of the chip tray that has a heat exchanger, several fans and an electrical outlet. There is also an another heat exchager located on the inside of the main control cabinet, which looks like it is there to cool the cabinet. All of the hoses seem to be there and untouched except for where they went to what I presume was where the pump was located. They are cut. I figure that the shop where this machine came from had several of these machines and need a chiller pump at one time and robbed it off of this machine. I bought the machine from a used machinery dealer.
So...I am looking for a picture or diagram as to how this system is to be plumbed and wired. Also, I am in need of a chiller pump. I talked with the local fadal rep and he indicated that the machine had a metal tank that sat behind the machine and that the pump motor sat on top of tank lid with the pump extending down into the tank. Building a tank is easy, I need to find a suitable pump. Also, how does the pump know when to turn on? Does it run all of the time or is there suppose to be a thermostatic switch to cycle it on and off.
The machine doesn't appear to have too many hours on it. The spindle sounds quite and smooth so hopefully there is no damaged from them running the machine without a chiller.
Thanks, Dave
