installing a probe on a fadal (neil)

Is it possible? cost justifiable, I got one on my haas and the set up time is greatly reduced. now I would like to put one on my fadal but dont know if its cost justifiable or even possible.

    I have a 96 40x20 with a -5 system

pros and cons about putting one on it?

    Thanks
    Delw

I assume that you are refering to the Renishaw TS27 R table probe for setting tool lengths. After a learning curve it can be an asset to reduce setup time and accuracy. Remeber that the effectiveness of the device is dependant on the people using it.

I dont know which one it is its one that mounts in a tool holder and it sets up your position offsets along with getting points off of various castings and parts. the table probe for tool length isnt that big of a deal as its easy to set offsets, however working with castings and such a probe arm sure does make it nice and fast.

Renishaw is working on a quote for me , or does fadal have a package already to bolt in? I assume I would have to have fadal software also ?

There is software alrady in the machine for the in the spindle probe. We currently use the OMP-40 probe with the OMI receiver. You can use the L9101 canned cycle or the Fadal macro language. Also Renishaw has their macros that are written for the Fadal Contorl.
