Hi all,
I went to fadal yesterday to have a look at the auction lots. a very impressive shop with many machines. the ad says 1400 cat40 and cat50 holders. what it doesn't say is that about half the holders have tool in them. the lots are divided into about 12 holders each. some are on tool carts that hold about 24 tools. maybe 6 carts.
what you dont see is about half the holders have tools in them. every kind of insert tool you can think of.I saw one lot that had 6 large tap collet holders that were brand new. you know the large holders which the collets are about $200 each. i was lookong for da180 collet chucks and saw probably 50 of them.
then on the shelf i found the collets. one box had over 100 collets assorted. then I found another box with 100 brand new da180 collets still in boxes. and the box with the tapping collets I saw probably 25 brand new collets. the small ones and large ones mixed.
I saw one cabinet with the inserts for the milling tools. just boxes and boxes of new carbide.
there are 2 beautiful g&l horizontal boring mills. about 10 feet of y travel. and the biggest surface grinder i have ever seen. a room full of fork lifts. 2 dozen new fadals wrapped in plastic and probably 60 - 80 other machines.
to register you need to give them a check for $3000.
the end of an era. I almost cried
