I'm trying to form an "S" type shape into the part, but it keeps making steps instead... what rookie mistake am I making this time? N005 G0 X1 Y0 N006 g18 N007 G1 Z0 F12. N008 G2 X1.5 Z-.5 I0 K-.25 N009 G3 X2 Z-1. I.25 K0 N010 X3. N011 G3 X3.5 Z-.5 I.25 K0 N012 G2 X4. Z0 I0 K.25 N013 Z.1 G17 ETC. I've switched around g2's and 3's, changed other varius parts to it, etc, but if it does cut a radius, it's the identical radius top and bottom, but inverse on the other side... i'm sure it's something simple, but I'd appreciate y'alls help... Mason

according to the users manual, g01 is modal and doesn't need to be re-expressed after a g2 or g3... it seems to work... mill, supposedly with Fanuc controls, but i can't find anything to support that. I believe it is the fadal control, but as i said...

I think you may need to use zero's before some of your decimal values. such as Z-.5 may need to be Z-0.5 (there are several others). I'm not in a place to verify this right now, but wanted to give you that idea. Another thought -- Are you using incremental (G91) or absolute positioning (G90)? That, according to my control, will be X.0002 The other thing that might help is sticking a G8 in the first move to smooth things out. |

for N8 to N9 X moves 1/2", Z moves 1/2", your radius is only 1/4" modified N005 G0 X1 Y0 N006 G18 N007 G1 Z0 F12. N008 G2 X1.5 Z-.5 I0 K-.5 N009 G3 X2 Z-1. I.5 K0 N010 G1 X3. ( G1 is required ) N011 G3 X3.5 Z-.5 I.5 K0 N012 G2 X4. Z0 I0 K.5 N013 G0 Z.1 ( ditto ) N014 G17 Steve Last edited by Superman; 04-21-2009 at 01:07 AM. Reason: Forgot modality G0s & G1s |
