I just talked to Gortite the company that make the box ways covers for the Fadal. They have a Minimum order charge of 100 bucks for an order. I want to replace the molded Urethane wipers on my 15XT Fadal’s box ways covers. The part ( PN# TFW – ˝) comes in a 8 foot long section and is only $25 plus taxes ( if any) and shipping. So… I need to come up with at least $75 more of an wiper order or any of their products Anyone out there need wipers for their machine? Let me know and we can work out an order. Gortite’s web site is www.gortite.com.Steve

| I brought all mine in from them as well. Even with shipping, brokerage and exchange rate I still saved hundreds of dollars over buying from my Fadal distributer.

It’s really easy to rebuild these things and make them look like new, if they are not badly damaged. They come right apart. The Brass pads on mine were fine but the rubber bumpers inside were gone and I found some in McMaster Carr that will work, also a new return spring. You carefully pry up the inside metal guard that holes the rubber and the old wiper pops right out. While apart I cleaned everything and took an air orbital sander with 60 grit sand paper and refinished them. They look like new and ready to go back together! ![]() Steve

Am I missin' something here? Steve did give the make and model number, so why not an immediate quote, if, that is, thodacon really does have wipers in stock for "famous" machines?? Maybe Fadal isn't famous in China, maybe even Germany, but most machinists in this country know you're talking about an American machine tool builder when you say Fadal. Sorry, but I'm smelling a blend of pork and ham here.....until thodacon proves me wrong. Which I'm hoping he'll do promptly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laogai Not bashing anyone here, just trying to keep things in perspective.... Most rubber parts coming out of China are of laogai origin. Wipers, being rubber in nature, I figured would qualify.

Not a good idea considering it wouldn't be legible anyway, LOL. Have you looked for other suppliers with a Google search, Canadian or US made retrofits?

I can make mould for free too. Do it all the time. In fact, I've made strawberry mould in my refrigerator lots of times. It's a real pretty shade of green. Can you mold mould? Will a mouldy mold work to make mould? Can you make a mould mold? ....ok, ok....can you use mould to make a mold to mold mould??? Can you do that for free? Using free mould, that is...mould that is free in the air. I guess you could use a mold to collect mould. For free. Then you'd be famous, but you'd have to prooved it first.
