1991 fadal vmc20 comm with pc running XP

hey Yall, New to the site here. I just bought the fadal VMC 20 single phase machine from the classified section of CNC ZONE, and having trouble with
getting it to talk to my pc. I am not so savvy with the guts of communication
and setup parameters. I am using (WELL TRYING TO USE) NCFADAL V1.3,
Remember I am just a programmer w/Surfcam and a chip maker in my garage.
Any help on getting my 1991 fadal vmc20 to talk to my pc running xp would be greatly appreciated. (i'm not even sure I have posted this correctly or in the proper location),but from what i've seen you guys here DO have all the answers.

    THX, PPWHAT

    Fadal rs 232

You will need a null modem cable.Set the comm settings for 7 data 2 start and one stop bit, even parity.A rs232 tester box comes in handy here.Make sure
you are using the right comm port on your computer.Anyway,at the command prompt on the Fadal type ta,1 if you are not using the Fadal communications software, which used to be called Assist. If I remember correctly, with the Fadal software, you put the control in command mode and just send the program.
Fadals are EASY to talk to.I have an old vmc 20 also, dont plan on taking any big cuts with it-and keep an eye on the x axis conduit,it breaks, coolant gets in there, and then it gets ugly!!!!

    SDNC

Say your running Surfcam? There is a DNC prgram called sdnc.
The software comes with the surfcam and it works. I use it on my 1995 4020
88hs. So you have another option.

Windows Hyperterminal will send files to the control quite easily as well.
