Bening a nice holiday weekend and things I decdied to move some stuff around in the shop. one piece is a 96 40x20 fadal. got everything unwired and buttoned down to move it out one bay door and into the other we have right next door. Have a 13,000lb forklift. got the forklift positioned and went under neath to check and DAMN I forgot the 40x20s have no fork holes. it requires brace's through the side. SO whats size do I need to get? channel I beam solid what? I need to know cause friday I need to find some one in town with something so I can be back up and running monday morning. Thanks |

| ...and that could require fork extensions alone with 72" forks on the forklift. Even with extensions they tend to tilt quite a bit toward the back, more than the forklift was able to adjust so I added a 2 x 4 block to the tips to level. it worked nicely. The installation manual should tell you on your own machine. Over the years when I moved mine, I brought the table all the way forward. If you have not done this, and already have disconnected, you can turn the y axis ball screw by hand. Steve |

| its always a good idea to run the table foward like you said. also get your Z head down as har as you can this will give you a little lower center of gravity and keep it from rocking so much. running the table in Y0 x0 makes the 40x20 a little back heavy. In other shops were I have had to move the machines a long distance I have always picked them up by the back, but you need longer forks to do so and you have to be very very carfull not to smack the cabinets or motor. I always hated moving my own machines for the simple fact that if I screw up I just lost 30-150k that comes out of my pocket plus down time. were as hiring a pro to do it they screw up and you dont loose your machine just the down time. Unfortunatly I never plan anything and its always a spur of the min deal when I do stuff LOL. if I would have waited a week they could have done it for me and my wife wouldnt have nightmares LOL |
