| I'd like to start off by saying hello to all as I am new here (first post). My exp is limited, but I am a quick study. Also want to apologize if I am in the wrong area for this question. Ok here goes; On my last tool which is a 1/4 ball E.M. ( with MasterCam ) I am cutting a groove that I want to ramp the tool into it. A friend help me set it up, but the tool comes straight down and proceeds to cut the groove. What I would like to do is have the tool come down and ramp into it (groove) instead of coming straight down then cutting the entire length and then ramp out. I can get the proper angle I need, just need to show the boss that I can figure this out. I apologize if my terminology is way off, but I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. Any help with the code would be greatly appreciated as this is going to help me secure a job. I have probably left out a lot of the pertinent info, but I have been searching notes all night and am turning to dust for lack of sleep. Thanks again to all and I look forward to gaining vast amounts of knowledge here. God Bless "Butch" |

Butch set the graphic view to front or side depending on what way the groove (or slot goes) set the construction plane to 3d and draw your line (ramp) using x,y,z format. For example create line endpoints -3,0,0 (1st end) -2,0,-.25(2nd end at -.25 on z) next create line endpoints -2,0,-.25(start of second line at smae endpoint of 1st line) 2,0,-.25 (endpoint of 2nd line) then create line endpoints 2,0,-.25(start of 3rd line) 3,0,0 (end of 3rd line) then contour from the toolpath menu and cut it. I hope this helps |

| Paste the code as its an easy fix, however its not a fadal problem it just wasnt drawn correctly in mastercam. if you can read code you can change it in a few seconds if you can't Uh-oh. someone in your shop should be able to read code. |
