Question Fadal CMOS Battery Replacement

I just replaced the battery on my Fadal with the 32MP control.
Everything appears to work fine with the exception of the CNC Memory Manager. When I attempt the (CNC Memory to Disk) option, I get an error 156.....No Response from CNC.

Could there be a setting or something to reset???

We have two machines, both with the same issue. Fadal Service said that I fried the motherboard, so we were limping along with one not saving anything. But, now that both machines do this, I am reluctant to believe their $8000 answer.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

Thanks

I can't really help you out, but I doubt the board is fried. I ran into a similar problem on a fanuc control, and they also said I needed a new board, what had happened is when the batteries died, it blew a fuse so it ended up being a $15 dollar fix.

The problem most likely is the RS-422 or the cable going back to the 1030 card or the 1030 card itself may be bad. Try communicating via the RS-232 at the rear of the machine on a lap top or desk top computer. If you are successful then wwe know that the 1030 card is ok and the problem is in the RS-422 circuit.

Neal.
