    Memory issues

I have a program that I copy and paste together, and then use g54 and g55 for my work offsets. Problem is, that I seem to run out of space/memory when I load it.
Machine is a 95VMC 15. I have no programs loaded. Current file is about 6500 lines. Any ideas?

When you do an ME command what memory percentage does it show?
If you only have work and tool offsets in the machine it should be about 92-98%.
If not you have other programs clogging it up.
Try doing an RI (you might need the manual for the right command (my memory is fussy)). Say NO to clear work offsets and to clear tool offsets and yes to clear all programs.

BUT with factory memory you will likely require an upgrade. I believe factory is like 42K mem. An upgrade to 422K is about $500 and this will hold about 35000 lines of code.
You can always DNC your program but the mem upgrade is worth the money.
To get more than the 422K you will have to upgrade the whole control at great expense.

I did the 42k to 422k memory upgrade a few years ago. I got the memory off ebay and installed it myself. It's an easy mod and you will like having the extra space.

Sounds like a simple sub program could solve your memory issues without spending a penny, and cutting down on the copying and pasting.

In the time you wrote that, you could have looked in the manual and taught yourself sub-programs. For what you are trying to do, it really is that easy.

Call your tool, probably set your spindle speed

    T1M6
all the normal crap S2000 M3
    G54
    M98 P1001 L1 (program #1001, repeat once).
    G55
    M98 P1001 L1
    M5M9
return to home for a tool change or whatever.

    Next tool, use program 1002.

    O(oh)1001
CUT and paste what the tool does here, skip the normal start of tool crap, you've already done it, and just bring it up to a clearance plane at the end.
M99 instead of an M30 or a tool change.

I prefer to put the main program at the end of the file so that when you load it into the machine, thats the program ready to run.

There are a million things you can do with a sub, but what you are trying to do screams SUB, and is the simplest way to use them.

Take 10 minutes and figure it out.

Sub programs work fine and dandy, but what if one tool in your program fills up the 42k memory? 42k is easy to fill, and you will have to bite the bullet eventually and upgrade, unless you don't store programs in the control, and you love to dnc.

DNC is great for a few parts.
BUT if you are doing production it is way too time and potential for error costly.
Just my personal experiences and I don't do production.
