so your saying to purchase a cable to connect to rs232 on machine run cable to another computer with usb?if so can i back up my whole hard drive like this including windows, gibbs etc..any more information would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not too sure about backing everything up. I only use the cable to transfer programs, tool & fixture data. We use the same cable for our Fadals and our Femco lathes.
You could put a second IDE hard drive into the computer and do back ups onto it.
