A axis amp for Z axis?

I am trouble shooting my 4020 and have no experience with Fadals.
I suspect the Z amp card might be faulty and have tried using the Y amp for the Z motor. It works fairly ok. In order to see if I can get rid of e-stop and do a cold start I would need to use the A axis amp for the Z motor, but this looks different from the X,Y and Z amps. Will it work or will I destroy something?

I am also having problems with the Z control card. It will not blink unless I remove a few other cards from the cage. Could be voltage as I only get 4,84VDC to the cage. The A axis card works better, but even after setting the J4 jumper to Z each 0,0001 pulse displays as 0,001. Not sure if it moves the same as the display or if the display is showing 10 times the pulse.

With respect to your first question, The a axis card should work. My vmc 40 blew the y axis card and I stole the a axis card out of my 4020. That was a couple years ago.

If you are getting less than 5 VDC than you have a power problem. Check the 1220 DC power supply. Also it could be that one of the cards in the card cage is pulling down the 5 volts. You MUST have at least 5.0 VDC to operate properly.
