Sweeping in the spindle

We just moved 5 3016's and releveled them and found all of them have .002 off in the Y plane when sweeping a 12" circle. What do we do now...was it shims we add to the spindle?

I don't have those machines so this may not apply.

Do they have multiple levelling screws? Six or eight not just four. If they have six can you alter your .002" reading by lifting or lowering the center two? Does the reading change depending on the table position? If they were my machines I would do a lot of playing around checking this sort of thing before considering shimming spindles.

Where are you placing the level and what kind of level are you using?

I ask this becuase I assume you didn't have this issue before you moved. Also the spindle tram is set from the factory and shouldn't change. Usually if the tram is out in the Y it is caused by improper level or the head gibb's are misadjusted(if it has gibb's).

Spindles have all been replaced...hard to say what exactly caused this but we are using 2 master levels.

I would check the gibbs. when you sweep the spindle around if you see the front of the spindle sagging then i think the fix is to adjust the gibbs. i have seen the techs adjust the spindle nose to compensate but that seems a little cheesy to me. i read where one of the guys made bronze gibbs and steel straps. i think that is what I will try.
