97 Fadal 15XT Pricing questions?

I am selling a Clean 97 Fadal 15 XT. It is in great shape. It also has a 4th Axis that we we sell with the machine.

Machine Location: Minnesota

Cosmetically, the machine looks good. a few scratches on the inside of the machine enclosure. No Crashes, ever.

The machine has been well serviced and maintained. It is accurate, with virtually no wear in the ballscrews.

Here is my question: Has anyone recently purchased or sold a similar machine? I would be interested in the asking price vs the actual selling price.

I am attempting to establish pricing for my machine.

I have seen these machines hit 20K and have seen used machinery dealers buying them up all day under 10K. These days 20K will buy you a 4020 with boxed ways and a 10,000rpm spindle so it can be a very hard sell. If you look on ebay you will see those guys (mostly used machinery dealers) shooting for the stars asking over 20K for a vmc15 but then you will see a superior 3016 or 4020 going for just a few thousand more. You say the machine is in very good condition but has it been checked out for accuracy over the 5 points on the table? Has the Z been checked and what kind of control does it have? cnc88hs or mp32?

The control is the standard 88hs

We have not done any testing on the machine. We certain could and may well do so when we are ready to sell. I have no doubt it would substantiate what we already know.

We have owned the machine since new. It has never been crashed or damaged.


The purpose of my original post was to solicit input from recent sellers or buyers of this make and model to assist me in pricing the machine accurately.
