It really depends on teh controller used...hopefully a 88-hs. They have several menus that are accessed with the space bar. I really wish their was a website showing all the menus so training would be easier.
Hi everyone,
I'm going to be starting a new job working with Fadal machines. Previously I've only operated Haas, and I was wondering if there was anything that stands out as a major difference that I should be aware of.
I've been reading through the Fadal manual a bit, but it's hard to get up to speed without having the machine in front of me.
One thing I've noticed is some debate over format 1 or format 2. I'm not sure what the machines I'll be working on are set up for, but which would be most similar to Haas? So far I've done pretty much all manual programing if that makes a difference.
thanks in advance

Format 2 is more like the HAAS control. It depends alot on the controls of the Fadal machines. The HS-88 has some nice features like being able to calculate the center of a part and setting the FO. Also the mass modify in the tool table is nice. On the other hand, Fadal leaves out alot of nice features like cutter life cycles and cutter load alarms. If the machines have side mount tool changers you will be in for some disturbing suprises.
We have three (3) Fadals and one (1) HAAS. I am trading in my newest (2005) Fadal and getting two (2) new VF-3SSYT machines.
