My 94 4020 has about 0.0005 backlash in the Z screw and almost 0.001 in Y. But both sound super smooth, wondering if i can just shim these to create a little more preload? If so anybody know what size shims i need or if theres a kit available or anything?
What type of bearings does my machine use? I see everything from taper roller bearings, angular contact bearings and even flat thrust roller bearings for sale for these machines but cant seem to figure out what i need. Thanks.

You could just use the BL command for the backlash BL,2,10 for your Y and BL,3,5 for the Z type BL and see what comp is in the axis and then just add to it for the additional
