The other day the Turcite separated from the Z axis gibbs.
Does anyone have suggestions through experience with this repair. I have a full shop with forklift just in case I have to pull the whole head. Any help is much appreciated. New gibbs are on order.
Terrible news everyone. After taking off the guards it is not a gibb issue. This happy little piece of turcite was along for the ride. I am assuming the entire Z head must come off to glue on new turcite. Luckily I didn't run this machine at all since I first saw the issue so the box ways are still smooth.
After looking at the cost of hiring help to come and replace the turcite I will be attempting to do this all myself. There is nothing to lose for the cost. The worst that happens is I still have to send it in. I will do what I can to post information on the process.
If ANYONE can please offer some advice or knows the best way to remove the spindle motor and carriage I would very much appreciate it.
