I was wondering if anyone had any tips on adjusting the backlash on a '94 4020 4axis VMC with -4 software. I'm getting some gouging on entry and exit radii, and circ. interp. in the "Y" axis. I've always worked as a programmer and set-up guy and never been involved in backlash adjustments. I've done most of the other r&r work myself but this I've only seen done. Mark

| Mark-- In the Fadal Maintenence Manual under the Axes System section is the proper procedure for finding and adjusting your backlash. Use the small program given there to do it and do NOT use the Manual Pluse Generator as this is a blind pluse and is not really a good method to get the best result. Neal |

| Mark I have found that I get gouging if I use my -4 in G8 mode, it goes away if I use G9. I only use G8 anymore if I am doing heavy peck drilling. Not an answer to your Q, but maybe will help on our old machines.
