Hello. I am new here as well as new to CNC anything. Any discussion and help is greatly appreciated. I have a Fadal 4020. The y axis does not respond. The resolver has been recently replaced because it was bad. The X and Z work fine. On the Glentek board for the y axis there are 2 red lights on. The 9, 10, and 11 slot boards all have one red light on. Am I correct that the 9,10,and 11 slots are amplifier cards?? What are the X Y Z Glentek boards up above and to the right of these referred to as? What are the two red lights indicating. On the monitor it just says "y axis amplifier fault" and it tries to reset for 2 seconds. The error gives not number designation.
My goal right now is to get this working so I can move forward with checking that there are no other problems with the machine and that it is fully operational.
first thing i would do is check all the reset buttons in both cabinets in the back.
the next 4 things i would do with the power off.
first check the brushes in the motor. that might do it.
then replace the fuse on the glentek board and try that.
next i would swap glentek boards and see if the problem follows. if it does thats probably the problem.
then swap the axis controller cards (9,10). make sure you swap out the jumper blocks on those cards also.
if it follows to the other axis thats probably the problem.
if that doesnt find the problem the motor is probably junk.
Thanks Jeff for the response. I will give those things a try. I wasn't aware I could swap the Glentek boards. This board is considered the "amplifier"?
