Cool 32 MP controller tricks

Today I installed a wireless PCI card with a remote antenna on my backplane and now I can surf the net on my Fadal. I can also download files through the wireless network. Cool. Cost was $50.

What year is your machine? Ours came with ISA slots.

It's a 95. The back plane I have has PCI slots 4 or 5 of em. It runs windows 98.

Hows that Fadal doing?
We've been very buisy lately... Our Fadal CNC with the retrofit control is doing very well. Today we machined 2124 T851 plate starting out at 1.12 thick and 15" x 20".
Using a 1" Sandvick 3 flute inseted end mill cutting at 12,000 RPM and .12 dp
Roughing at F400. and finishing at F220. for best surface finish...
This part goes from 32 lbs down to 3 lbs in less than 1 hour cycle time.
And we have to flip the part over and add clamps...
Good thing we have 1/4" lexan to protect us from fling chips.
The upgraded coolant pump and nozzels are a must at these speeds.

I'm learning every weekend, cutting fun stuff like bike parts, I recently did a rifle reciever, stuff like that. I've got the controller upgraded to a -5 with 4mb memory, and the test the tech did says it's as good as new. I still have a lot to learn about setups, and the ins and outs of the controller. I recently did my first threadmill so that was fun.

Glad you finally got that thing working, I felt bad for you brand new mill and all.

What coolant pump did you buy? I'd love to have 150psi...

We are in southern CA. 2 miles from Tijuana

The 220-volt pump we are using is from Gusher, multi stage 150 PSI I think right around 40 or 50 gallons per minute. Next one won't need to be this big. We are venting off un-needed pressure. All that is needed with this nozzle set up is 75 PSI and 20 GPM. (About 1/2 what we have). That is what proto typing is all about eh...

I have delt with that control before. The original control that Gil created was the Numatix. As far as performance it did very well, but there were some problems with accessories. Specifically the tool changer. There was a falling out with his partner and they went their seperate ways. The Numatix has since gone out of business, and Gil is continuing the control with the new name. I hope it gives you continuous performance.

The story I was given is that DOC has taken over with the Rubicon controll, and moving far forward with further enhancements over Gil's orig. logic. DOC has him on as an advisor.

As far as knowledge and performance, DOC is the best. I have been working with DOC and their service/ applications for 4 years now. If you guys see Keith Johanson, Russ Crotty, or Eric Swanson, tell them Dave Beam says Hi
