I am running a Fadal VMC 3016 with CNC 88 control. I drip feed all my programs since I don't have much memory in the controller. For the last few days I have had an error message popping up while cutting a part. The error is "RS-232 error during DNC." The machine will stop and I have to restart cutting from the beginning of the program. Any ideas what's going on here? Same issue whether I use Predator or NC Fadal.
DNC has always been slightly buggy but stopping in the middle of a part is new.
I assume you've checked wiring for loose connections and the obvious parameters since it works.
I had a heck of a time in my old shop with grounding noise somewhere in the building. It drove me nuts. I tried shielded cable to no avail. And there were no events that were specific to errors. I finally bought the Calmotion USB reader and installed it. Removed any problems I ever had and well worth the $500
