"Scrapping a cnc" sounds like the unpleasant ending for a new machine, or a normal ending for an old one. If the iron is good, many older cnc's can be run for a few more years with new controllers and motors.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

I think Rudee means 'scraping' which is of course a means, re-establishing true bed ways , which is still often done by hand, although I have seen hand held electric ones demonstrated at IMTS in Chicago.
I would imagine there would be some web sites that explain it fully.

Try calling Fadal and see if you have hardware / software that is upgradeable. Then check out a place called cncpros.com, they may be able to find the part or software you need. As far as I know their VMCs with the hardware tag 1400-4 can be upgraded. That tag can be found on the main driver pcb board.

    Rudee,

I would recommend that you not throw money at upgrading your fadal with fadal solutions, especially on a 16 year old CNC.
But, if it's paid for and you have work to do that can bring your income, then you could spend a little on this machine by rebuilding and retrofitting, or spend a lot on a new machine.

    Rebuild source near you:
