I dont know if you noticed or not but it doesnt have a fadal control
I have, what I think, is a pretty good offer on an 08 3016FX with less than 2000 hours on it and a 4th axis. 28k shipped and rigged on my shop floor. It has the Fanuc 0i-MC control. I just purchased SolidCAM with 2d imachining and already with my Haas mini mill and 3 and 4 flute cutters I'm cutting over 100ipm. I've read that the Fanuc control needs to have look ahead turned on in order not cut corners at as low as 75ipm. Am I going to be able to really use the material removal rate that solidcam has with this machine? I'd like to use this machine for prototyping and short run production as a new start up. I would really like a vf2 but can't afford vf2 prices, am I going to be disappointed in this machine? I have zero experience with Fadals and the only Fanuc experience I have was on a robo drill back in 2006. I would really appreciate your advice and wisdom. It's a good price on a machine, but it's still a lot of money to invest.
Thanks,
Casey

We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts :) If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.
And that is supposed to mean....? I'm not sure if you are being facetious, but I am aware that it has the Fanuc control.
Sorry I thought you said
The Fanuc control only has so much processing power. I am not aware of the Oi-MC's upper limit,I've read that the Fadal control needs to have look ahead turned on in order not cut corners at as low as 75ipm

No worries! Do you have any experience with the FX line? In your opinion, would this machine be an upgrade or a downgrade from my current stock 2006 Haas Mini Mill? I believe I would basically be getting VF-2 specs for half the price as long as it's not really slow in the rapids and feedrate departments.
It should outperform that mill by 300%

Great! Is $28000 delivered a good price? I haven't been able to find any similar machines to compare to.
Yes if you have a use for that kind of performance level.

By "have a use for that kind of performance level", do you mean the boost in performance over the Mini Mill?
A BIG BOOST
