| The Haas indexers that I've seen have their own separate controller that runs the indexer. You usually program the indexer movements in the Haas controller and place an M code in the machine program to trigger the indexer to move. I've used several Haas indexers on Fadals in the past with no problems.... |

| The way mine works is to plug it straight into my Haas. It's a true 4th axis gizmo. I have heard that you can use one on a Fadal with an adaptor box, but was hoping a little plug rewiring might adapt it so it can be used as a 4th axis on the Fadal |

| Story goes that in the beginning Gene Haas wanted to sell his indexer to Fadal to install on their machines. They said no thanks. A couple years later Haas' first cnc mill debuts at Westec. Twenty years later Hass is the number one manufacturer of CNC machines in the world .. by volume. Just a side story behind this. |

| We just got a 2216FX about a month ago and I was wondering the same thing about a Haas Rotary head....We have an old S5c unit on our other machine that must be 15 years old and it still works good! they are bullitt proof! I would be interested to know the hookup as well. |

| Why don't you just get a HAAS? You need to consider the interface between the 4th but also your pull studs are different and programs are slightly different. We have both Fadals and HAAS machines. I have to have seperate tooling for each or switch pull studs if I need a piece of tooling that was used in another machine.

| If your existing VH-5C has a DC servo motor it is not compatible with the Fanuc AC servos. A Fanuc motor would need to be fitted. I'm assuming this is hooked up as a true 4th axis. If it is an indexer with an external control box, let me know and I'll get the hook up for you from Engineering. Neal |

| My point was more to be why change a good thing. ALTHOUGH I HAVE HEARD THAT THE FX MACHINES ARE 43% FASTER THAN THE OTHER MACHINES!!!!!!!!! LOL.

| i have used the haas indexer with the control box. you need to connect it to the fadal board (i believe it is 1030). they also call it an m code board. it sends the signal t0 index to the next program step. |
