I have a 94 fadal vmc15 with a -4 cnc88hs control. What is the max baud rate for this control version using rs232 communication? What is the max baud rate for the -5 system? Thanks Ed |

| I believe the control says 38,000 max baud in the settings page. 4800 is all I can get to work so far. I have a betatronics optically isolated communication setup. The betatronics setup works perfectly at 115,000 baud on my haas machines. I also tried a homemade cable, and a predator cable setup from shop floor automations. I know the port settings are good otherwise it wouldn't work at 4800 baud. Any help would be appreciated. |

| 115,000 isnt available on a -4 system. To further complicate things the manual on fadal's website which I have is for the newer model machines. They don't have a manual available for the older versions. |

| Edster My machine is a 4020 but same year and probably same control revision. My machine control will accept a maximum of 9600 baud, I would assume yours to be the same. I hope you can get yours configured to 9600, I know all to well that this is way to slow for complicated 3D work but I can hardly imagine trying to do work at 4800 when I sometimes choke up at 9600. I cant remember offhand but control has something like 115K memory (less than wrist watch I think) Hooray for RS232 and DNC as well as some creative programming.

| All the port settings are the same on both ends for 4800 and 9600 correct? I've tried all the baud rate settings except the ones slower than 4800 and couldn't seem to get them to work. Now I have an optically isolated cable and still can't go over 4800. bummer. I've got there memory upgrade a whopping 422k for the -4 system ![]() I have had problems with the machine hesitating during long 3d programs that I'm drip feeding. That's why the concern latey. |

| Everyone who DNC's programs on a Fadal, You must power down after changing your communication settings! Make you change, then power down. Then these new settings will be in effect...

| Scott_bob you hit the nail on the head After leaving the setup screen the machine software would re boot and even ask me to cold start the machine again. I never thought to turn the power off. I was talking to gordon from Betatronics and we initially thought this was caused by sending the TA,1 command from the pc before the %. But that's working fine now. The max speed in the control is 38,400 and that's what I'm running now through an 80 ft rs-232 cable! Thanks for the help everybody |

| Than you VERY much for this thread guys. I have tried before and never been able to exceed 9600. My service tech even told me that 9600 was maximum on this machine. I little bit more trying based on this advice here has got my speed up there now! MUCH APPRECIATED

| I thought I would stay on the safe side and am set at 19200 (for now). My 18 AWG cable is about 40' long and I amrunning a generic serial to USB adapter on my notebook. The machine didn't seem to want to change the root parameters on a CD* input, it worked as a temp setting. When a changed baud in setP and powered down it worked great.
