Can the tool in/tool out function be disabled?

Is there a way to do this? The problem is that when we have the Tri-tech 5-axis head mounted to the machine, hitting this button results in having to dismount and remount the head, which costs us an hour every time. It's happened twice on the last job.

    Thanks

    Dan

    What happens, Dan?

Will a controller reset not kill the function?

Put a lockout cap over the button?
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

Wanna borrow a screw-driver? Pry that sucka off! (j/k)

I don't think there is a way short of covering it or disconnecting it.

That's the way to do it, all right. We had a similar problem with our Fada's that have thru-spindle-coolant. If someone hit the COOLANT 2 button when a tool without that feature is in the spindle, the seals would blow out. Shutting the machine down to replace the seals was a real PITA. So, we popped the buttons off and haven't had a problem since.

Yes, popping the button off makes the most sense.

    Thanks guys,

i'd say put a lockout on it, or but a secondary button somewhere that is a rather logn stretch just inside arms reach so that it takes a definitive action to do it

The operators have been popping the button off since I first posted this back in Sept. It's a simple solution, but effective.

    DANB--
Simple but unconventional solution would be to pull Fuse F20 on the 1100-2 power distribution board. This is the fuse for the draw bar.

No, not our toes, something a little higher.

Popping the button has worked for years (this thread is 2 1/2 years old!). Thanks for the tip about the fuse though.
