    Fadal 88HS command basics

    Hi

At work I'm using a Fadal CNC 88HS

The commands that my co worker uses i'm not sure of

    He uses
1.) SETCS alot, in the Fadal commands list there is cold start CS but i don't see SETCS , what does this do? thats different that CS?

2.) He pushes manual button twice to get into a different menu, than types in T2M6 to change the tool bits, What are these menus called?

3.) I see him using SHIFT+Spindle on/off, what is he doing? and setting?

4.) He types is CL,3 or he uses other commands using the comma , what other commands do u use the comma?

5.) He uses a program that generates the G-code, then he types in DNC on the Fadal 88HS to load the G-CODE? and than I see him type in PA

    Set Cold Start
SETCS This command is used to return the machine to the Cold Start position for
power off. After entering the SETCS command the HO command must be
entered. The positional display on the screen is the absolute position from the
Cold Start position. If the Auto key is pressed, all axes are returned to the Cold
    Start position.

Is the different between CS and SETCS, is that CS is cold start for power on and SETCS is cold start for power off?

But I don't get the difference between setting a cold start for power on and power off , why would u want one for power on and the other for power off , used for what?

Guessing you have not fully read the manual. Most of the commands are explained there. I have never used the SETCS command. I usually flip through the quick commands menu and press the appropriate function key to return the machine axis to their home positions before turning the power off. Different people have different techniques for accomplishing the same tasks. Here is the manual:

Did you download and read Sect_8 and Section_16? There is a lot of information in the manual that you are asking for.

From the manual: "When the power on cold start has been completed the following screen is displayed when the menus are turned on within machine parameters:"

Assuming you have already done Power On Cold Start, why do you need to repeat Cold Start? Just because your co-worker is pressing certain keys does not mean they need to be pressed. Yes, he probably has more knowledge of the machine than you do at this point in time, but it does not mean all of his knowledge is correct. Different people have different techniques for accomplishing the same task.

    Some basics:

Power On - Switch Main Disconnect switch to on - after boot up, Cold Start screen should be displayed
Press Cycle Start button to initiate Cold Start (if marker tabs are aligned)

Power Off - Press the Manual key to get to "Enter Next Command" - press space bar to get to Quick Keys menu - press '3' to return all axis to zero positions
Press Cycle Start button to initiate Zero Return
Turn Main Disconnect switch to off

If for any reason the control has had an error and needs have Cold Start reapplied - press Manual key to get to "Enter Next Command" - type CS and press Enter
Press Cycle Start button to initiate Cold Start (if marker tabs are aligned)

    Hope that helps.

This can be done in MDI. See page 154. Or it can be done in Manual by typing in S500 M3, or whatever spindle RPM is needed. Then press Enter then Press Cycle Start button.

1st thing you do is turn power on
then hold green button on back of machine for 5 seconds or so.

    then goto your screen.
make sure all tabs on x y and z are aligned type in cs
the z axis mark is on the collum right side of way align bottom of head to it. the y axis home is on right side of machine and the x axis it right in front of you.

The commands depend on what format your in to what you will see on the screen.

    now your machine is homed.
