    Z axis shutter.

My 1989 VMC is having a Z axis problem. When it rapids down it shutters and shakes the sheet metal on the machine. The Z axis is smooth when it rapids up. Can anyone help me with this?

I bet your not using Vactra #2 oil
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts :) If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.

You may need to tighten the straps on your Z axis

Not a Fadal service expert, But may be worth swapping resolvers with another axis, Not
sure if rigid tap feature still uses resolvers? Im surprised no body else has chimed in on this one

from my experiance it could be a few things.
resolvers or broken wire 1st guess, then check brushs.
then check the chains and gears on the weight for the head. as going down it may be tightening up somewhere.
