    Odd Servo Coolant Problem

    Hi Guys,
We have a strange problem with the servo coolant on one of our Fadals. When starting up it goes down to touch the spindle housing to initialize as usual but then snaps up all the way to the front cover and stays there. We can move it a tiny bit using almost the end of rotation on the fine adjustment knob but that is it. I certainly would not like to have the valve open and turn on the coolant.
It seems to have gotten lost in it's positioning. For a brief time it was working okay and now it is back to being confused again. I guess this question is mainly for Neal or Alex but has anyone seen this before and what did you do to fix it?
    Thanks for the help,
    Gary

    servo coolant

I have seen this before it usualy is a problem with the motor in the servo coolant box.first reboot the machine and cold start sometimes it will find itself if not,you can take the front cover off the head and look closely at the 9 pin molex plug and wires, i have seen several act like this because of loose/broken connections on that plug,if it still acts up it is most likely the motor itself.I have actualy never replaced the motor before because it costs quite a bit and no one ever wanted to spend the money for a new one, so i end up unpluging the amp ( small black box in the upper left of the side cabinet it has a computer style power cord.) and turn off the parameter for it.Then they just use it manualy.
