    Setting Tools on a CNC88

Ok I am new to a Fadal. I was wondering how people set tool heights and Z heights on a Fadal. I set my tools on a Fanuc after using a 2.00 gage block off the top of my part and touching the head off of that. That way I dont have to change the tool height from part to part. Once my height was set I could use it on any part I make. The only way so far that I have found out on the Fadal is to set all of the tools off the top of my part and put a -2.000 in for my G54 Z height. I want to be able to to set tool height and just change my Z offset from part to part. Dont know if this makes sence or not but just having trouble figuring out this Fadal. I miss my Mazak with a tool setter on it. Any help would be great. Thanks

    Real simple solution
set your tools off a vise or a location surface, use your fixture offsets to move the tools to the height you want.

for example lets say you cut your vise jaws.
Set every tool off your vise jaws.
when you still a part that is 1.0 tall change your fixture offset to 1.0
when you put the next part in thats 3.0 off the vise jaws change your fixture offset to 3.0
the top of your part in both cases will be Z 0.0
if you take off the vise alot set the tools off the table
i have a rotary table as one fixture height offset 2 vises as another, a chuck as another etc etc.

just dont forget to move the whole fiture offset if you want your tools lower or higher.

    Delw,

Thank you for the help. The only thing I have is how do you zero out the Z axis? If I touch all the tool of the table and then touch and indicator off my 2.00 block I want to zero out the reading so that I can go from the block to the top of my part so i can get the height to put in as my offset. Is there a way to do this or do i do it the old fashion way and calulate it? Anymore help would be great. Thank you

Like darebee said calculate it. then go into the offsets and raise or lower all your offsets at once. Theres a menu option for this
never do just 1 or 2 tools cause if you call up the wrong offset it will crash.
also this way ever single tol is height set every time. no dicking around with this tool or that tool.
