    5 AX B SIG2 ADJUSTMENT

I have 2 Fadal 6030's with the 32MP control. I apparently have an error in the B axis card and need to adjust it. Problem is that I have a typical A over B 5 axis set up with Nikken rotarys and the B axis will probably weigh around 500 lbs or so. Is there a way to adjust the B axis SIG2 pot at a slower speed to sinc with the other axis and get good results? I would prefer not to tear the fixture completely apart to adjust it but I can't slam the B rotary around at the recommended speed either. Note: I am also reading a high number on the other axis, around 1850 instead of the 680 I have seen spec’d out.

    axis tune

It sounds like you are not doing the tune right.first tune x,y+z axis use this program( m49 g1 g8 g90;x-5.y-5.z-5. f150.;x0y0z0;m99p2; ) the following error should be 595 for dc motors or 600 for ac motors.then tune the a+b axis seperately use this program (l100;m49;a360.g1 f2000;a-360.;m17;m30;l101.1) and tune to 680 following error.and then change a to b for b axis.start there, all should sync up when set.

    I smell head porting
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts :) If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.

Remember that the Fadal 5 axis has different axis ratios: A axis is 90:1 so the feed should be F2000 however the B axis is 180:1 so the feed should be F1000. Tune to 680 for both axes.

    FIXED

We tuned the rotarys this morning and it looks like the problem is fixed. I wrote my own program to slow down the B axis rotation just before it switches direction so it doesn't just slam the fixture back the other direction at full feedrate. Then I sped the feedrate back up just as soon as it made the transition. Worked just fine.
