Fadal 60/30 w/large Arc

Has anyone had a problem getting a large arc ,653", to run properly? All I get is a samll 1/2" arc then a straight line pass to the other end of the 30" long cut and then the same small arc on the other end. The code is correct and I can't figure out what is going on. Thanks in advance for any help!!

I don't know the solution, but I'm sure folks will want to know what version of software your 88HS control has? Also, you might post a snippet of your code so we can see what format G2/G3 you are using and what parameters you are supplying (I'll be glad to try and duplicate this on my 3016 just to see what happens).

Assuming it's a bug in the control that you can't upgrade -- can you use a CAM program to generate the necessary G-code as line segments or large radius arc's that the machine will do?

dcalp--
The arc limits for the Fadal control when using the G2/G3 codes are 399.99" without cutter compensation and 99.99" when using cutter compensation. To cut any larger arc you must use the spline point approach.

Neal, thanks for that. I only program (CAM) and the "operators" didn't know!! So, if I make a segmented spline curve it should work??

Yes, the G1 segmented coding will work. Tell your programmers to keep the resolution very tight or you may see some faceting. Also make so the G8 is in effect.
