Y axis cold start problem

Hi
I have a Fadel VMC 15 that suddenly would not let me jog to cold start.
The jog did not work and every time we powered down the Y axix moved 6mm backwards until it is hard against the stop.
I get error such as "Yaxis fault" and "Axis controller does respond to nc" , "press jog to reset"
After pressing jog I seem to get an incomplete screen.
And after a few more button presses the screen goes blank.
Any advise given
would be appreciated

The error " Axis controller will not respond to NC" leads me to suspect the 1010 controller card may be faulty. Did you try to re-seat the card?

thanks Neal for the suggestion .Tried it but still the same.
Does anyone know how we could manually move it to the cold start position
We could not find out how to take the slide way cover off .We emagined then we would be able to turn the leadscrew by hand.

Did you try swapping the 1010 card to a different axis to see if the problem moves with the card?

you can take the motor off and turn the screw by hand ,the slide cover comes out through the hole that is covered by a plate in the front of the machine and is bolted in by the z cover.

I learned to jog to cold start position,
and going thru the cold start procedure
before shutting down for the day.

I suspect there is another issue at work here.
