| Hello all. I am running a program that is making the buffers drop from 256 down to the low 30's. It is a contour that does not have many short moves and only a few arcs. The machine is a 4020 HT w/ 4MB running format-2 and only one program in memory (the current one). I have seen this on complex 3-D contouring and helical moves, but this is basically linear moves in 2-axis only with no ramping. I would like to know why the buffers go away on this portion of the program. Any help or advice is welcome. James |

| James-- This is a common thing and nothing to worry about. Unless the buffers get down to 2 or 3 line displayed on the screen you will NOT data starve. What is happening is that the CPU calculations going on in the background is taking slightly longer to complete versus the rate of data being used by the current operation. This can occur with the application of Cutter radius compensation as well as other internally required calculations. Make sure that your binary buffers parameter is set for 254 which is the maximum. If you ever do see that the buffer stack is down to 2 lines then simply slightly lower you feed rate at that section of the program. Neal |
