Need Help!- error #8 motor overload

4525 is getting a #8 motor overload .its not getting it but at the start of the program and sometimes not then.spindle kind of jerks a little and goes into error.sometimes it gives a little jerk and starts up .have checked belts,spindle turns good.idlers are turning and moving good.sometimes it may go all day and not do it.then it may do it 20 or 30 times a day.

the #8 alarm is that the spindle orientation switch was not read or the spindle mas not moving.it sounds the spindle motor,encoder,or drive is going out.you can test the spindle card by checking power on pins 4+6 onthe molex plug under the drive see if the vdc stays consistent or moves around when it shakes this is the speed input to the drive, should be 1-10vdc depending on set speed.first ohm out the spindle motor lines to ground should be ol on fluke meter,it is better to use a megohmeter if you have one motor needs to be above 60meg.if the load meter bounces around a lot under no load that is likely the encoder going out.

Alex is right on. If the hall switch is NOT the issue I would look at the cabling and/or possibly the spindle card not reading the signal from the hall switch.
