Hey everyone, I am looking for an affordable (250.00 or less, peferably free) lathe cam that I can practice or play with. I dont own a lathe at this time but looking into the software before buying the lathe to see if it is practical. This is a hobby and I already have 2 mills set up with vcarve and emc2 just figured this is the next step of my ever expanding metal shop.
Also what should I look for in the software to compare the differences. Seems like most of the lathe cam is usually bundled up with a mill cam and I dont know if that is what brings the price up to 800+.

The best way to learn is trial error.
Try Mach 3. The wizards do most everything I need to do with a lathe. There is Lazycam (Included in Mach) for which you can purchase Lazycam Pro license which for the turn function is still cranky.
Art is working on Lazycam Turn in his retirement.
