Gents,

I've been an industrial designer by trade for 22 years, I am transitioning into aluminum sand casting and some prototyping for my own line of products. I am seeking the right CAM software fit and some good advice from the user community.

I've obtained a fairly new Milltronics MB20 CNC mill and ML-4 CNC Lathe, I own a seat of Solidworks and I am familiar with Rhino. While I am not a machinist, I do own a manual lathe and mill also. My intent is to produce 3D contoured casting masters from the CNC mill and Lathe.

I thought choosing a CAD package was tough! There are soooo many choices in CAM. For me I've narrowed it down to four:

RhinoCam : Cost and familiarity with Rhino

Delcam Feature: Arts user community

MasterCam: Huge User Community, Solidworks integration

SurfCam: Large User Community, Solidworks integration

I will live with this choice for a long while, any related advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Patrick
