Looking for CNC Help in Winnipeg

Hello, recently came across this website while reading about CNC on the web.

Does anyone know if Winnipeg has a cnc club or group of users that get together occasionally to talk cnc?

I live in Winnipeg and interested in building a cnc router for home use. Recently came across the plans for the "Joes CNC Model 2006". It looks like it would be a great first build to learn from.

Rather than try cutting all the mdf pieces by hand, I'm wondering if there is anyone in Winnipeg with a CNC machine interested in lending a helping hand. Not necessarily looking for charity work... (although wouldn't refuse)... rather looking for reasonably priced local help to cut out parts!

Thanks.

Hello,
I'm looking for a professional machinist...

Hello,
I'm looking for a professional machinist to talk to in the Tri-Cities (Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, or Guelph).

I am working on a project, and need a professional to talk to about materials, techniques, design and prices. If everything goes well then I was planning to CNC machine small orders of 200-400 parts every half a year, ideally. So I'm pretty much looking for a small company who will be interested in small orders and has the equipment to work with aluminum or hardwood.

Hello fellow Canadians (Ontario) I may have...

Hello fellow Canadians (Ontario) I may have something you maybe interested in. Are you building a cnc router but can't find a good deal on linear rails and bearings. I may have the answer for you. I have 4 HIWIN 25mm rails and 8 bearing trucks, the bearing have a rubber scraper seal on the ends of the bearings. I don't need these ones anymore. Please see picture's. The rails have no scuffs and are very smooth running. They also look to have been well maintained. Don't let them slip away. These are 44.250" long, I also have 2 lengths of 8020 profile 3"x3" (3030) 45" long to go with the rails/bearing

I hope its ok to post these here.

I am going to Toronto for a couple of days and would like to shop for some toys and supplies. Is there a surplus store similar to Active Surplus that deals mostly with machine tools?

I don't have a particular agenda or shopping list but would like to find a good source for mill cutting tools/spot drills in smaller sizes (3/8" and under) as well as someone who sells 6061 in smaller quantities at a reasonable price.

Where are your favourite haunts?

Eh! fellow Canadians.NEED HELP!I should be commited to an insane asylm. After years of research I finaly decided to forget building a CNC router.I sold off my collection of THK stuff and thought the addiction was finnished. Not so.I just purchased 3-44"THK HSR-20 rails and 6 trucks for dirt cheap,NIB.Sounds like a good start for a Y axis.
Saved from the E-bay selloff,2HRW-27 rails and 4 blocks and 2 HRW-21 rails and 4 blocks. These were to be parts of of a dual Z axis. Also saved from the E bay selloff was a THK 2005 ballscrew and a THK 16005 screw.Anyone want to help cure the addiction?I have C1N1C.

Good to see a great site like this. I have been here to check things out but have not yet posted. So here I am hoping to get an old D&M 4 up and running. I will probably firing questions off here and there mostly about electrical questions as I am very weak in that area. I am stronger in the machining part though so I hope I can help anyone that is weak in that area.
Talk to you later,

Hello everyone, I've been making a toy cnc router (No motors) for my 4 year old daughter to play with. It's made from Delrin plastic and made on my X2 mini cnc converted benchtop mill machine. Anyways have a look, what do you think. The Y axis will have 1/4" rails and the bearing to gantry will have button head bolts when finished. If anyone is interested in making one let me know I can send the DXF files for a very small fee.
