I am almost complete with the rails, table and gantry. X axis is 11'; Y axis is 52"; Z axis is 30". I am using 4 GECKO G230V. They are mounted on a large heat sink. I am using the C11G breakout board. The question comes, where do I purchase an 80 volt transformer and how do I size the capacitors. I have access to just about any tools and pushbuttons what seems to be the popular buttons and lights people like on the outside of the door. My control box is 24x24x8. It is a NEMA 3R enclosure with gasket.

Questions:

Where do I buy an 120 or 240 to 80 volt transformer?
Where do I buy the capacitors and how do I size it/them?
What are the popular controls and indications on the outside of the box?
What are the popular connectors to connect to the motors and to create an easy disconnect between the box and motor cables?

Thanks in advance

Robert

Hi Folks,

I've been doing CNC plasma work for several years now. Mostly Aircraft Weathervanes and such. I have a Smithy Granite 1324 which meets most of my mill and lathe requirements. However, I would like to convert it to CNC. The Smithy is pre drilled to accept stepper motors and I already have a FlashCut Controller and CadLink software for programming. As I start to make the transition, I'll likely be posting some question with hopes of gaining some insights from those of you who actually know what you are doing.

I've also built my own powder coat oven 80cuft. and sandblasting cabinet.

I also make a few sailboat parts but I'm certainly not a manfacturer.

Hello, I have been trying to increase my skills...

Hello, I have been trying to increase my skills in parts production and was wondering if anybody in the GTA could help me with some advice and direction to focus my learning. My interest is CNC machining, mostly with a Mill. I recently bought a Lathe and have been rebuilding it. I'd be happy to help out if needed Advice on equipment or a Technology demo concerning what software does what would be also very helpful. I envisage investing a small sum (I'm guessing about $10K on my own hardware as my situation warrants)

I am a total newbie to CNC. But, I have to...

I am a total newbie to CNC. But, I have to automate my orthotic fabrication lab.
So far we have learned to design our orthotics with a cad program and are just learning to generate the tool path and g-code.

I am building a router and it won't be finished for several weeks.

Our g-code is from Mach3
If someone would run our g-code on a small piece of MDF board and see if we are in the right ballpark, it would be a great help.

If you are willing to try this, please post the specifics needed, feedrate, tool type, etc and we will plug it into Mach3.

Thanks
Mike
