Hi all,

I am new to the CNC scene and wanted to know if anyone can explain the different settings on the mirco step drivers.

I am currently using the 1/2 setting as when I use 1/8 it is a lot smoother but lacks torque when the steppers are turning, I can stop them with my hand.

What are the different settings for?

Help Newbie convert wiring from DSP to breakout board

My new Chinese machine arrived the other day . I...

My new Chinese machine arrived the other day . I had purchased it with the DSP controller board removed. I purchased a 6 axis breakout board and was hoping to wire it in . I am have a few issues with and have little or no help.

The stepper driver has 4 wires coming out of it . Black ( shield) , Blue ( Dir-), white ( step-) and red (Step + 5 v ). The breeakout board has provisions for a "Step" and "direction" wire. The breakout board also requires a constant 5 v so I got this from the onboard 5 volt power supply.
What do I do with the red ( Step + 5 V) wire. Does the stepper driver require 5 volts or was the stepper driver supplying 5 v to the original DSP controller board?
I have attached a pic of the original DSP controller, the DB25 BOB and the wiring diagram.

I dont want to fry something ,so if anyone can help that would be great!

HI Folks,
I'm getting more & more issues with our slightly aged router, and am keen to try another servo to see if that helps eliminate the spasmodic positioning error messages we frequently get in the Y axis.

Does anyone know of a Qld or eastern states supplier of 2nd hand servos?

(1/4" shaft, 1000 cpr, with encoder of course, what's currently on is a Pittman, 2.24" diam, about 7" long altogether.)

(The router used to be an Esab in 1990 modified to become a Tekcel in 2001, but with variations added to the theme)

Thanks

(PS we're N-W of Toowoomba)

Invitation to all Members. South Australian Inaugural CNC BBQ 24th April 2010

Hi Guys .. and Girls, For the last few years...

Hi Guys .. and Girls, For the last few years Benny has kindly hosted a CNC BBQ in Melbourne. Along with Frank, Ramon and Matty Zee, i attended the BBQ at St Albans last year. We met some wonderful people. It was a fantastic experience for us.

We would vey much like to put on a CNC BBQ in Adelaide next year. April 24th , and let Benny , Greolt and co sit back and relax. We will take care of all arrangements.

All CNCzone members are cordially invited. We hope to have a good attendance from members whether they be from Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Tasmania and even International guests.

As soon as we have some numbers of those attending we will contact the Mawson Lakes Hotel and see if we can get some low rates for accomodation. Mawson Lakes is a fairly new Yuppy type suburb only a couple of minutes away from our factory at Pooraka.

Please bring your wives and children. We are family oriented people and our wives will ensure plenty of activities for them.

The event will kick off on Friday night with a dinner in Adelaide somewhere.

Saturday morning we will have a fully catered Champagne breakfast at our factory, and then a CNC Demonstration/ Seminar until Lunchtime when Frank will cook one of his famous Barbecues. There will also be a display of our ten Mustangs ( some restored and others undergoing restoration ),and rides in them for interested people. Then an informal afternoon of chat, demonstrations, boozing or whatever.

Saturday night free for people to recuperate from the days proceedings, or to head into town for partying. Casino in Adelaide, Nightclubs, Strip Joints, or whatever.

Sunday we could organise a bus trip to the Barossa Valley and lunch in an old world pub.

We can organise to pick up anybody flying in for the event, and dropoffs at the airport after it finishes.

There may even be a large door prize that will require a trailer to take home! We will deliver to the winner.

I hope you will all come. The more the merrier. Just add your name and number of people in your group to this Thread.

Rocket.
