Hello everybody,
I'm starting on a router/milling machine and would like to hear some tips from you. I learned Solidworks and designed the machine here first.
It will be used on different materials, but mostly aluminium.
Router will be made of 20mm and 15 mm aluminium plates, Chinese 20 mm(x,y) and 16 mm (for z axis) supported rails, Chinese 16mm/5mm pitch ballscrews.
Probably I will use 1.5kw or 2.2kw, again, Chinese spindle and 300 oz/in motors.
Rail size is 750 mm 600mm and 300mm for Z axis.
Rails, screws, motors and controllers are already ordered.

Please check the attached pictures and see if you can find any flaws before i begin. All feedback is welcome.

I have a part that I am looking to do a short run production of out of 1/2" Euro Color Baltic birch plywood. I am curious what the pricing would be for 100 parts, 500, 1,000, and 5,000 parts, or however you would like to do the batches? What would the pricing be if you provided the wood, vs us?

Hey everyone,

Hey everyone,

I am seriously considering a Bolton 12x30 gear head lathe.

The price is very attractive, and it can be run at either 110 or 220 which I like a lot, as I only have 110 now but can change to 220 when I get around to it.

My first question is does anyone have any experience at all with any of the Bolton 12 x lathes?

I have done a ton of searching and cannot find much info.

My next question is, if I do buy this thing, how do I assess how accurate the lathe is, particularly the spindle?

I am wondering if there is a standard set of tests that can be run?

Im a bit nervous about it, and I am pretty much torn between the Grizzly G4002/G4003 and this Bolton, and I feel pretty confident that with Grizzly I will get all the support I need, not sure about Bolton.

I probably should go with Grizzly, but the price difference when I factor in having to right away have my shop wired for 220 is very significant.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi everyone, please could anyone help.
I am using FIMEC 1 kW spindle together with 1.5 kW TDE Macno (probably have not heard about this) VFD drive. Problem is that I cannot make them work properly together, all I get is strange noise and OC (over current) alarm when output drive frequency exceeds 10 Hz. Spindle is operated with no load, it is freely turning. Perhaps one has encountered similar problem and have solution.

Attached video with spindle rotation. When frequency gets near to 10Hz it sounds strange. But my main concern is OC alarm.

Last week, I completed the basic table for my modified, 30x30, version of the 2BEIGH3

The table was successful cutting the roadrunner and skull and crossbones Mach3 test files. I want to move onto the next step, cutting the parts for the precision table. I can't because it seems my routers bit isn't followiing the correct cutting path. It seems to be cutting along the travel lines between cuts and not the cuts for the part itself. I'm not sure if it's Lazycams conversion of these dxf files causing this or if it's something I have overlooked.

Please forgive me if this is an easy fix but total newbie here. I'm a DIY guy and this is my first time running a machine like this. Would appreciate a push in the right direction.

Hey all,
We have an old 1989 Alex Tech lathe with a Fanuc controller. I have been looking all over the wed for the correct process parameters to load in the controller but cannot find any. As far as I am aware, the Alex Tech is not in business anymore and will not offer any help on the subject.

This has been an on going project to get this old machine up and running and I am taking it over from someone else, so still new to CNC lathes but willing to learn. From what I gathered from the previous mechanic, all that is left is the process parameters, and those can be loaded from an external source.

My question then is, does anybody have an old 1989 fanuc O-TC controller that is willing to donate a copy of the parameters from their machine?

Information from the controller:
