Hello to everyone.

I'm new to this forum, so a few words about myself.

I'm a retired scientific instrument maker, previously involved with many different instuments for the space and industrial sectors.

Since retiring around 2000, Aside from rebuilding a number of VW camper engines for no 1 son, I have become interested in small cnc machines. To date I have converted a Sherline mill and lathe, a Taig mill and a small Seig lathe. I've used several different driver systems, all of which have required some design on my part. Some of the controllers I have used are; Compucut - originally a single step unipolar system, later updated to half step. Camtronics 297 controller - half step, and a 4 axis multi step gecko system.

I have used Compucut Software ,which uses a modified version of HPGL, Turbocnc, MaxNC, and currently use Mach3 all using G code.

Recently I have purchased a chinese 5 axis TA8435 controller that I am currently trying to decipher.

I hope that has given you all a flavor of my interests and hopefully I will be able to provide an input to the forums.
