Hi everybody. I'm Malc and I live in Birmingham, England, I've been interested in CNC machining for a number of years but failed miserably to understand the jargon by which the machines are programmed. The article in this months "Model Engineers Workshop" about Mach 3 is a bit more reasonably understood, and I could be tempted to bu in to the technology. I have a Cowells milling machine that I believe is suitable for conversion, is there anyone out there in the eworld that would like to chat about converting the Cowells to CNC? |

Hi Malcolm. I converted a Taig/Peatol milling machine to CNC. One can purchase the stepper motor adaptors from Peatol in Harborne. The motors themselves came from ARC Eurotrade in Leicester, and the control board and assembly instructions are from Compucut in Coventry. There is a Compucut users forum with assistance, and it is only a short hop over to Coventry if you need to see the maker/designer. I use Mach 2 (simply because my system is driven by an old laptop that would struggle with Mach 3), but software is supplied with the Compucut board if you wish to use his system in entirety. Keith |

I've had some unexpected news from work and have had to take the long holiday without pay so mods to my Cowells will be on the back burner. One day I'll get over to Coventry and see Compucut at work. Malcolm |
