| Evening folks, just a few words to say Hi, my name is Paul and i live in Daventry in the UK. I have just started to setup a new workshop after a ten year break, my machines are a Chester Comet lathe (Sieg C4) and a Sieg X2 mill, it is my intention to convert the X2 to 4 axis cnc control using a Syil kit and would be grateful for any info or views regarding Syil versus CNC fusion kit etc. I currently work in a Bakery as a shift engineer on continental shifts, so I should in theory have plenty of spare time to make piles of swarf. Bye for now Paul |

Bo jour Hedonc, Nice to hear from you. Yes SA has a market for CNC macine tools. The little I had experience with - Siemens Sinumerik , Fanuc, Mazak , Haas..... . The only obstacle I see is marketing. You have to be good in marketing your product, should you want to get in. There are a number of machine tool rebuliders in South Africa. I was involved in a project upgrade of a centreless grinder. We had an old unit refurbished and converted to CNC controls. Again you need to be able to break into the market - networking in this market is important. If I can suggest - you should research this on the internet, google search directed at SA market. Hope this helps, Tojours Ahmed |
